ELGIN, Ill. (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

Two men were arrested for obstructing police after shots were fired outside of a party early Sunday in northwest suburban Elgin.

Police received multiple calls about gunshots heard in the 1000 block of Congdon Avenue about 12:19 a.m., according to a release issued by Elgin police.

When officers arrived at the scene, witnesses told them that multiple people ran into a house after the shots were heard, police said. Officers surrounded the house, where there was a party taking place.

About 50 people left the house over two hours, police said. Several juveniles were taken to the Elgin Police Department before being released to their parents.

While officers were investigating the incident, 19-year-old Daniel Hernandez and 18-year-old Odessian Torres, both of South Elgin, were arrested and charged with obstructing officers and resisting arrest, police said.

Hernandez posted bond and was released, while Torres remains held by Elgin police on an unrelated Cook County warrant, police said. Both are scheduled to appear in court Feb. 10 in Rolling Meadows.

No injuries were reported as a result of the shooting, police said.

The Elgin Police Department's Gang Crimes Unit is investigating the incident.
