BOLINGBROOK, Ill. (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

Police officers who showed up at a Bolingbrook home to stifle a family brawl on Christmas Eve got pulled into the scuffle before they were able to break it up, the Herald-News is reporting.

Bolingbrook officers were called to the 400 block of South Palmer just before 1 a.m. Tuesday to handle a domestic incident.

When they arrived, a woman greeted them and hurriedly ushered them into the house, police said.

Officers saw people fighting in a back room, and were pulled into the fray when they tried to stop the fight.

Police eventually were able to arrest Juan Espinoza Sr., 49; Juan Espinoza Jr., 24; Ricardo Espinoza, 28; Rosa Espinoza, 46; Erika Espinoza, 19; and James K. Faught, 22.

Two officers suffered minor injuries, and equipment was damaged in the fight, police said.

Juan Sr., Juan Jr. and Ricardo Espinoza, all of 402 South Palmer Drive, all were charged with domestic battery and aggravated battery to a police officer. Rosa Espinoza, of the same address, was charged with aggravated battery to a police officer.

Ricardo Espinoza was treated for a head injury at Adventist Bolingbrook Hospital, then taken to the Will County jail.

Erika Espinoza and Faught, each charged with resisting or obstructing police, posted bond and were released. Juan Sr., Juan Jr. and Rosa Espinoza were taken to jail and remained in custody Thursday.
