Snyder for president? Skubick asks Mich. governor the question

LANSING, Mich. (WJBK) -

During his first year in office, Gov. Rick Snyder avoided the national media like the plague. But now? In the past year, he's been everywhere, talking with everybody about Michigan's story. And that has put the speculation machine into motion.

Already, some national pundits believe he'd make a good candidate for president. So, how does President Snyder sound?

"That's one of those speculative hypotheticals that's way out there," said Snyder with a laugh. "I'm just happy being governor of Michigan."

So, if that's such a wild idea, how about saying you won't run for president.

"I don't see value in that," said Snyder.

Why not say no and take the issue off the table? "Again, I view that as just generating more distraction from staying on message."

If there is any doubt about running for that post, talk to Mrs. Snyder, who is more blunt. "We don't discuss that," said Michigan's First Lady Sue Snyder. Because (running for president) is off the table? "Yes, it is. Clearly from my perspective."

So, apparently, you can put away those 'Snyder for President' signs. That is of course, unless things change.
