Locals Explore Warm Winter Weather

It was so warm out today; the ice skating rink actually had to close because the ice melted! We went all over the city today to see how people were braving the high temps.

"This is crazy, it's 70 degrees. It's almost Christmas it's insane," Jimmy Matro of Hammonton said.

Forget winter fest, more like summer fest in Philadelphia with record breaking temps reaching around 70 degrees. It feels like Christmas in July.

We decided to pull out the old fry an egg on the pavement trick to see just how warm it really is!

And we waited, and waited and waited, we'll get back to the egg later. So how warm was it?

We caught some folks cooling off with cold beverages.

Others wore tank tops and tee shirts, Ed Mazzilli braved Love Park in shorts.

"It's a beautiful day, why not," Mazzilli said.

One guy even went jogging with no shirt on but poor Santa Clause.

"This suit is not made for that kind of weather. This is made for the back of the sled when it's minus whatever," Santa Claus said.

In Rittenhouse Square, many people ate outside at Parc.

"I think what's more hysterical is that there is a wait for outside," Carol Serena, General Manager at Parc said.

With temperatures as high as they are, were people actually out swimming today? Not so much.

A 9-year-old did make a splash at the River Rink on Penn's Landing.

"It was so warm out the ice melted. We had our chiller going at 8 degrees but unfortunately it can't fight Mother Nature, Dave Moore, manager of the Blue Cross River Arena said.

But you know what didn't melt? The iceberg lettuce at the 9th Street Italian Market.

What a knee slapper, right?

Yeah, it was a nice warm up for a day or two. But I know most people are really dreaming of a White Christmas.
