A few days ago Allison Ascanio worried what Christmas would look like for her children.
For months, she and her family have been staying with relatives after their rental home went into foreclosure.
The unexpected eviction found Ascanio and her husband making tough choices.
"It is difficult to decide what you can and cannot provide for your children," Ascanio said.
A stranger has helped make Christmas possible for her children.
A manager tells Fox 13 an anonymous donor paid off the layaway balances for nine families at K-Mart in New Port Richey.
Ascanio picked up gifts for her kids.
"This is the receipt from the person that came in to pay it off, all 193 dollars and 42 cents," said Ascanio, holding the receipt.
"You made a tremendous difference in my life. You will have enabled me to be able to have enough money to move on with my life. Thank you."
Ascanio said she'll put the money saved towards "the savings needed to be able to rent another house."
She said she intends to pay the kindness forward.
