ROSWELL, Ga. -

A 4-year-old Roswell boy discovered missing after his mother was found assaulted in her Roswell apartment late Thursday night has a tragic end. Police say just hours after they issued a child abduction alert for Jesus Dominguez, two bodies, believed to be that of Dominguez and his father, were found less than a mile from his mother's apartment.

Police doing a sweep of the woods behind the Aspen Point Apartments in Roswell around 10:15 a.m. Friday came across the body of an adult and child. Police believe the bodies are that of Carlos Alberto Dominguez and his 4-year-old son, but are waiting on formal identification by forensic experts.

The Fulton County Medical Examiner's Office is expected to perform autopsies on the bodies. Police say they won't release the cause of death or the manner in which they were found until those are complete.

The frantic search for Jesus Dominguez began Thursday afternoon. That is when police say Dominguez entered the apartment of Sandra Rivera Ruiz located at 260 Old Holcomb Bridge Way while her 10-year-old boy and 5-year-old girl were at school. Police say he assaulted Ruiz before taking off with their 4-year-old son.

Police arrived at the apartment around 4:30 p.m. and rushed Ruiz to North Fulton Regional. She had signs of being strangled as well as several facial injuries when she arrived. As of Friday afternoon, she remained in critical condition and unaware of her son's senseless murder.

Roswell Police released the 911 tapes from the initial call. They reveal three things about the incident: Police knew immediately that the victim was badly injured, that her 4-year-old son was missing and that his father might be behind it all.

Police issued a Levi's Call, Georgia's Amber Alert System, during the early morning hours on Friday. They spent the overnight hours actively searching for the child.
