A Chinese man who lost a hand finally has it reattached, but not where you might expect.
Xie Wie suffering from a work accident earlier this month that cut through his flesh and bones. Doctors in Changsha were not equipped to perform the delicate reconstructive surgery, so he was transferred to another hospital.
However, doctors there say that the muscle and nerve in his right arm had been torn up so much that it would not be possible to reattach it immediately. That's when lead doctor, Dr. Tang Juyu, decided to attach Xie's arm to his ankle to keep it alive with blood circulation. The hand stayed on his calf until Xie's arm fully healed.
The image of Xie's arm attached to his leg started instantly going viral around the world.
Now, Xie is recovering from his reconstructive surgery, with his arm, and hand, fully intact.
