Frederick and Betty Lou Walters from Wyandotte, Michigan will celebrate their 70th wedding anniversary on Christmas Day. The two renewed their marriage vows for a second time on Dec. 18th one week before their anniversary.

"They did [the first wedding vow renewal] on their 67th anniversary. My dad decided he wanted it done then because my mom was in really bad health again," the couple's daughter, Sharon Parker, tells Fox 2. Frederick says a second renewal is enough, but if they live to be 100 he may do it again then, too.

On a December holiday leave in 1943 20-year-old Frederick flew home to Tarentum, Penn., 20 miles north of Pittsburgh, and married his high school sweetheart, a then 17-year-old Betty Lou at the county courthouse.

Frederick, an army paratrooper during World War II, moved to Jackson, Mich. after his tour of duty ended. He then worked as a corrections officer for the prison system. From Jackson the couple moved with their baby daughter, Sharon, to Wyandotte in the 1950s.

Frederick says the two first met at a roller skating rink when he was 15 years old and she was 13 years old.
