PARALYZED ATTORNEY – 8:00 am In 2004 Josh Basile was paralyzed from his shoulders down by a wave while on a summer vacation at Bethany Beach in Delaware when he was 18. Josh was on a ventilator for five weeks and, was told he would never breathe again on his own. Ever since he’s been confined to a wheelchair. But his drive has never been confined. At 18 years old, you might think that any of Josh’s career ambitions were taken away by his injury. But, you’d have to meet Josh. This morning at the Maryland Court of Appeals in Annapolis Josh is making good on a dream he’s worked on for years. He’ll be sworn in as an attorney, and has already landed a job.

NAVY YARD HEARING – 10:30am When Aaron Alexis arrived at the Washington Navy Yard September 16th, he carried his shotgun around a security checkpoint without getting patted down because he had a CAC (Common Access Card) because he was a federal contractor. Today the Senate Homeland Security Committee holds a hearing into the base's physical security and how to best protect federal employees. PRINCE GEORGE'S MINIMUM WAGE - 10:30 am How much is too much - or not - enough to pay someone minimum wage? It's a question that led to sharp debates on Capitol Hill, in street protests, and in local goverments like Montgomery County and DC. Today Prince Georges County Executive Rushern Baker will sign PG's Minimum Wage Bill raising the rate, it's an move that would increase the hourly rate to $11.50 by 2017 from the current $7.25. But the old questions and complaints from business owners persist: Is raising the rates of pay a way to scare off new businesses, or does it simply give people a realistic salary given the high cost of living in this area. Location: County Administration Building, Upper Marlboro. MD

OBAMACARE NAVIGATORS REPORT - We all know the Affordable Care Act website has born the brunt - perhaps with merit - of most of the attacks by the White Houses political opponents. But there is a human element to Obamacare that is getting less attention. "The Navigators" people in community based organizations being paid thru Goverment grants to help people sign up. Now there are new questions about who they are, what they are doing, and if they are securing personal information. A new report, issued by the House Oversight Committee led by Rep. Darrell Issa, R-Calif., also said some navigators violated rules by mailing in consumers' paper applications instead of the applicants posting them as required by the healthcare law.
