Walmart Worker Allegedly Tries To Shoot Employee Of The Month

Posted: Updated:

A Florida Walmart worker wasn't too happy about his store's pick for employee of the month – so he allegedly tried to shoot the winner.

Authorities in Broward County say surveillance video from the Walmart in Deerfield shows Willie Mitchell pulling up next to the victim's car in the parking lot.

Officers say Mitchell rolls down his window, fires at her car, then takes off. Thankfully, the employee wasn't in her car at the time.

"Perhaps (Mitchell) wanted to be employee of the month," said Veda Coleman-Wright, a spokeswoman for the Broward County Sheriff's Office. "But, clearly, these actions that we saw in response to this, I think we see why he wasn't chosen as employee of the month."

Authorities are still investigating the motive. They say Mitchell and the victim apparently argued about workload after the award was announced.

A Walmart spokesman says Mitchell is no longer is employed by the company, and the employee of the month award does not include money or gifts.
