DC police officer accused of prostitution arrested

WASHINGTON -

A 24-year veteran of the D.C. Police Department is being held without bond, now facing two counts of pandering a minor for purposes of prostitution.

Investigators say they found a 16-year-old girl in Officer Linwood Barnhill's apartment at the Stanton Glenn Complex in Southeast D.C. last week.

She told detectives Barnhill was a pimp who set up dates for her. Of the $80 he charged the men, the teen said she got to keep $60.

"I have two daughters, and this is so sad, sickening really," Neighbor Quincy Rose says.

Charging documents from the bond hearing reveal that Barnhill also pimped out a 15-year-old girl.

Resident Marc Williams is wondering how an alleged brothel could go undetected for so long.

"I have a five-year-old daughter, and I always worry about who's around her," Williams says. "For a police officer to be doing this, this is scary."

The Seventh District officer is due back in court on Friday.
