WASHINGTON -

Police say a man has been pulled from the water by rescue personnel at Hains Point in Southwest D.C.

D.C. Police Chief Cathy Lanier says they received a 911 call at around 8:15 p.m. Tuesday.

Lanier says U.S. Park Police dispatched units to the area and found an unattended car along the water's edge in a parking area. Park police then requested assistance from Metropolitan Police Department's Harbor Unit.

A man was located and recovered from the water nearby where the vehicle was located. He was transported to a hospital and is in serious condition.

Lanier says police cannot confirm the identity of the victim at this time.

A source has confirmed to FOX 5's Bob Barnard that this incident is related to the case of Marc Washington, a D.C. police officer who has been charged with producing child pornography. The 32-year-old officer is accused of taking naked pictures of a 15-year-old girl who had been reported missing.
