REDFORD, Mich. (WJBK) -

Redford Police are following new leads in a hit and run that left a man seriously hurt. The victim was just walking on the sidewalk when he was hit.

Fox 2's Randy Wimbley reports from a local body shop that gave police they tip they may have been looking for. Click on the video player to watch his report.

Turns out, the vehicle likely used in the hit and run was dropped off at LA Auto Repair. Redford police picked it up Saturday night but still no word on where the driver may be. A man, seen in surveillance video, was driving a car just like the one involved in the hit and run in November. The driver came to get a quote about repair to the badly damaged vehicle the same day it happened.

"It was a 2011 Jetta, white, with front end damage, hood damage, and the front windshield is busted like somebody went through the windshield," a worker told Fox 2.

The driver was dressed with a woman's hairdo, a purse and boots. But, workers say it was a man. Police say the hit and run victim is a 30-year-old who suffers from schizophrenia. His injuries are severe.

If you recognize the person in the photo, call Redford police.
