CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

A Wrigleyville bar is taking heat after posting an offensive sign outside their place of business on the anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor.

Murphy's Bleachers asked Americans to remember one of the worst attacks on their country with "Bombs & Kamikazes."

Not long after a photo was posted on Twitter, the distasteful marquee unleashed a firestorm on social media.

"I would hope you took care of it appropriately with their immediate dismissals. Horrible," @mjglick said on Twitter.

@TealStarfish posted: "I'll make sure none of my friends visit your place ever again."

And @AdRose83 added, "The fact you even had that kind of signage up in the first place makes me wonder what kind of people you hire.."

Murphy's owner Beth Murphy told FOX 32 News that she was "ashamed" and "devastated" when she heard that a staff member had posted the sign, adding that her father and uncles were all veterans.

She took to Twitter Saturday, posting an apology under the Murphy's Bleachers account saying: "This awful marquee has been taken down. We apologize for the actions of our staff to our whole country."

Murphy said the marquee was up for less than an hour and she's currently trying to decide what disciplinary action will be taken.

More than 2,400 people were killed and 1,200 others wounded in the December 7th attack on Pearl Harbor, Hawaii in 1941.
