Posted: Updated:

A little hero was rewarded on Friday for her big brave act.

Back in July, Zna Gresham was there when a mother tossed a 1-month-old baby from a burning second-floor unit at the Arbors at North Decatur Complex. The 10-year-old calmly caught the infant.

"I saw the lady, she said, ‘Catch my baby,'" said Zna Gresham. "I actually saved the baby's life. I really didn't think I'd do it, but I just believed and I did it."

The fire destroyed Zna's home and all the family's belongings. They're now staying at a Gwinnett County motel.

"It hasn't been the best. We've been struggling and we're going to get better," Zna said.

Local church members along with a fund started by the DeKalb County fire officials are helping On Friday, fire department members dropped off a new bicycle for Zna. The young girl beamed with excitement when she saw her surprise.

"I'm very proud of her. I tell her every day that I'm proud of her, and I'm like, ‘You know you're a hero in everybody's eyes. She says, ‘No mom, I'm not a hero. I'm just someone who takes care of my neighbors,'" said her mother, Temeka Gresham.

Zna said she wants to be a firefighter or police officer when she grows up.
