LAX Says Water At Bradley Terminal Is Safe To Drink

Posted: Updated:

LOS ANGELES (CNS) - Water at the Tom Bradley International Terminal at LAX remains safe to drink, despite the choice of some international airlines to truck water in, Los Angeles World Airports said today.

A report in the Los Angeles Times Friday, citing airport emails, said airlines at old and new gates within the refurbished international terminal were unable to replenish water supplies because terminal plumbing was contaminated.

The report said the contamination caused the water to turn brown; it also contained high levels of bacteria, and particles of metal and rust. Nancy Suey Castles, public relations director for LAX, said tests showed acceptable levels of chlorine, meaning it was safe to drink.

Water to five Bradley Terminal gates had been shut off because the supply did not meet the criteria of some airlines. Castles said LAX is looking at the relevant parts of the water system to isolate and address any water quality issues.
