BALTIMORE, MD -

A man from Littlestown, Pennsylvania was stopped by the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) for bringing a gun into BWI Thurgood Marshall Airport on Friday morning.

Officers found the hand gun in the man’s carry-on bag during the checkpoint X-ray machine screening.

The Maryland Transportation authority arrested the man and confiscated his gun, a loaded .380 Ruger.

The Federal Security Director at the airport, Andrea R. Mishoe said in a statement:

“TSA screens approximately 32,000 passengers and their carry-on bags each day at BWI, and our TSA officers remain focused on threats to the traveling public.”

Weapons, including firearms, fire parts and ammunition are not permitted in carry-on bags; however, they can be transported in checked bags if they are unloaded, packed correctly and you have informed the airline of those items.

Passengers are responsible for their items. TSA encourages travelers to check their bags thoroughly before bringing them to the airport.
