CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

Police are warning Northwest Side residents of a man who tried to sexually assault two women this week in the Humboldt Park neighborhood.

The first attempt happened about 5:15 p.m. Monday in the 1700 block of North Pulaski Road, according to a community alert issued by Area North detectives.

A 17-year-old girl got off a bus on North Avenue and was walking north on Pulaski when a man approached from behind, placed his hand over her mouth and forced her toward an alley, police said. He fondled the girl, but fled when she screamed and resisted.

The second attempt happened about 8:20 p.m. Tuesday in the 4200 block of West Grand Avenue, police said.

A 19-year-old woman was walking west on Grand after getting off a bus at North Avenue when the man approached from behind, put his hands around her neck, and forced her to the ground, police said. A passing car distracted him, and the girl fought him off and ran away.

The suspect is described as a 20-25-year-old Hispanic man, between 5-foot and 5-foot-3 and 120-130 pounds. During both incidents, he was wearing a black puffy jacket, black pants and a red, white and black beanie hat with ear flags and hanging strings.

Anyone with information should contact detectives at (312) 744-8261.
