Walgreens locations offering free HIV testing

CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

Sunday is World AIDS Day and Monday in Chicago, people will be able to get tested for free.

HIV was first spotted in the United States in 1981. Since then, 75 million people worldwide have become infected, 20,000 of whom live in Illinois.

There is no cure for AIDS and no vaccine but there are medications that can help AIDS patients lead somewhat normal lives.

The Illinois Department of Health is also giving out almost $4 million in grants to local agencies in an effort to stop the spread of HIV.

Free HIV testing will be available at more than a dozen Walgreens location in Chicago and the south suburbs.

Free HIV testing on December 2 is being offered at the following Walgreens locations:
