ATLANTA -

Fire crews battled an apartment fire at an apartment complex in midtown Atlanta on Friday.

The blaze broke out at the Chalet Apartments on Inwood Circle around 6 p.m.  All of the residents were able to get out safely.  Authorities say one dog passed away in the blaze, and one cat is still missing.

Residents say the flames sparked in a second-floor apartment.  Atlanta fire crews tell FOX 5 they had a rough time getting their trucks close to the building.

The Red Cross is helping residents who have been displaced.
