Obamas welcome White House Christmas tree

Posted: Updated:
WASHINGTON -

The Obamas have their Christmas tree.

Trumpets blared at the White House for the arrival of the 18 1/2 foot Douglas fir from eastern Pennsylvania.

The first lady, with daughters Sasha and Malia, kept things informal, bringing out the family dogs, Bo and Sunny, for the initial inspection.

It comes from the Crystal Spring Tree Farm in Lehighton, Pennsylvania, which is owned by Chris Boytek.

The Obamas actually tried to find a tree at another farm, the Wykoff Tree Farm in Warren County, New Jersey.

The Wykoff family had won the National Christmas Tree Association's annual contest.

But, they didn't have anything big enough to fill the white house "Blue Room," where the main tree will stand.
