College teen spends 4 days in jail after case of mistaken identity

Posted: Updated:
WASHINGTON - The mother of a Maryland college student who spent four days in jail in a case of mistaken identity says she wants the police officer who arrested her son reprimanded.

The officer thought 18-year-old Jawon Johnson was wanted on a federal warrant for burglary in the District.

It was, however, another Jawan Johnson who spells his name differently.

It took four days, a run of fingerprints, and a good comparison of pictures for U.S. marshals to figure out the wrong person was in jail.
