Jenn Frederick's Guide To Black Friday

Posted: Updated:
PHILADELPHIA -

Wait in line this Black Friday or stay in the sweat pants and shop online? What are the best deal-finding apps?

Jenn sat down with consumer expert Cassie Slane to answer these questions.

Slane says Wal-Mart's deals on iPads, Blu-Ray players, and HDTV's are worth waiting in line for.

Clothes, on the other hand, are usually on sale for several days surrounding Black Friday, so you don't need to brave the crowded malls for clothing. Stores like Gap and Old Navy have had big discounts all week, which will continue into the weekend.

Slane also suggests buying toys online. Toys are usually cheapest the two weeks going into Christmas. And, the same discounts offered on appliances will be offered online in most cases.

If you want to extend your deals past Black Friday, Slane says to save your receipts! Sometimes, if merchandise gets discounted even further before the holidays, some retailers will give you a rebate to match the new price if you show the original receipt.

As for apps, three useful ones are Amazon Price Check, which lets you scan a barcode and find out if you can get a better deal online.

Shop Via alerts you to real-time discounts, and also lets you scan a barcode and check prices.

Shopular lists all the deals in your area, so you can figure out which stores to hit.

Watch the clips above to learn all you need to know to help plan out your Black Friday!
