Retailers don't wait for Black Friday to offer deals

Posted: Updated:
ATLANTA -

Fearless shoppers braved cold rain and frigid temperatures on Tuesday as they camped out for Black Friday deals.  Some retails aren't making them wait until Friday – they're planning on trotting out the deals before Turkey Day!

While many stores, such as Target, have rolled back specials to Brown Thursday, some savvy shoppers are already getting Black Friday deals online at stores like Kohl's.

"Black Friday isn't gone, it's just become a very long event. It's more of a term now rather than a single day," said Brent Shelton of FatWallet.com said via Skype.

Shelton said online deals have cropped up early to compete with doorbuster specials.

"In-store doorbusters are still the best deals that we've seen so far this year. However, here are online deals that are just as good," said Shelton.

Shoppers haven't abandoned the idea of grabbing their merchandise in person. Jason Halloway has been camped outside of Best Buy since Monday waiting to buy a TV. He estimates he'll save about $500.

Others, including Heather and Jason Neal, said they want no part of the shopping craze.

"We want to keep sacred, the time that's ours. To keep it for ourselves," said Heather Neal.

This year's shopping season is shorter as Thanksgiving falls later than normal.
