Volunteer Football Coach Indicted By Grand Jury

Posted: Updated:

A volunteer football coach is indicted by an Ohio Grand Jury following an investigation into a rape case his attorney says the accusations against his client are unsupported.

The coach is one of four people charged after an investigation following the rape of a 16-year-old West Virginia girl allegedly by two high school football players.

Authorities say the teens drank alcohol at a party at his house before the rape last summer. the school is also accused of knowing about the incident - and failing to report it.

"This began as a rape of a 16-year-old girl, a horrible crime of violence. But it also represents blurred, stretched and distorted boundaries of right and wrong," Ohio Attorney General Mike Dewine said.

The coach is facing misdemeanor charges that include making a false statement and contributing to underage alcohol consumption.
