NORCROSS, Ga. -

A train hit a truck that was hauling six vehicles in Norcross on Tuesday morning.

Police received a call that the truck was stuck on the tracks Holcomb Bridge Road near South Peachtree Street in downtown Norcross. They immediately called railroad authorities, but the southbound train was unable to stop in time.

The train cut the car hauler in half, leaving two mangled vehicles on one side of the tracks and four other vehicles on the other side.

It took more than three hours to re-open the tracks. Police say that it caused major and costly delays for Norfolk Southern.

Police said the driver of the truck will be cited for trying to cross the tracks despite warning signs.
