PHOENIX (AP) - The mother of a 2-year-old girl found wandering around an Anthem neighborhood has been sentenced to three years of supervised probation for child abuse.

Maricopa County prosecutors say 22-year-old Nikki Hockett entered into a plea agreement Tuesday.

Hockett was arrested June 11 on suspicion of child abuse and endangerment after her daughter was found by a person going to work at 4:30 a.m.

Authorities say the toddler was dressed only in a nightshirt and diaper.

A daycare center worker recognized the girl's picture during a TV newscast. She called Hockett, who then went to where Maricopa County Sheriff's deputies had the toddler.

Hockett told authorities she and her daughter had been staying at a friend's home, which is about 100 yards from where the girl was found.
