WEST CHICAGO, Ill. (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

A west suburban man bought a $4 million winning ticket in the Illinois Lottery after hearing someone else had bought a winning ticket at the same store.

Scott Rice bought his winning instant lottery ticket at 7-Eleven at 0S027 Winfield Rd. in Winfield after a security guard at Central DuPage Hospital told him someone bought a $2,000 winning ticket at the store, according to the Illinois Lottery.

"I always thought I'd win someday but I still can't believe it!" Rice said in a statement from the Lottery.

Rice, who has lived in West Chicago for 15 years, plans to keep his sales job at the electrical supply company where he's worked for 30 years, the statement said. He plans to use the money to invest, share with family and donate to charity.

The 7-Eleven will receive a $40,000 bonus, one percent of the prize amount.
