WOODBRIDGE, Va. -
Two former teachers at the MinnielandAacademy in Woodbridge have been arrested and charged with two felony counts of cruelty or injury to a child.

Kierra Spriggs, 24 and Sarah Jordon, 29, are also facing charges of assault and battery--charges that come as the founders of minnieland release a video apology to parents.

The two former teachers were fired after investigators with virginia social services said nine toddlers had been physically, emotionally and psychologically mistreated over a period of six months from february to august of this year. Abuse the investigators said the two did for their own entertainment.

The two dismissed teachers worked at the Minnieland Academy in Woodbridge where investigators with the Virginia Department of Social Services said toddlers were fed flaming hot cheetos, had buckets of water dumped on them and were deliberately tripped among other abuses.

No one answered the door at Spriggs Woodbridge home and at Sarah Jordon's a man said the 29 year old wasn't there.

At Minnieland's corporate office we not allowed any interviews but were told a video from the founders of the academy was on the web.

In it, Chuck and Jackie Leopold start off by defending the "caring and loving environment" they have built for six thousand students and apologized for the behavior of the staff.

"at minnieland our educators and administrators are the best of the best, parents should expect nothing less, yet despite these safeguards a few former staff members recently demonstrated some unacceptable behavior, upon learning of the behavior we alerted the proper authorities and terminated all staff involved, even the staff members who did not report the teachers activity are no longer with the company…we are sorry that some parents were informed through the media and even through false rumors, our focus was on the families directly involved…we are deeply sorry that this has happened and we will continue to earn the trust of our Minnieland families".

Just last week FOX Five told you about another investigation at the Minnieland in Lorton where investigators with Virginia Social Services determined a toddler had been physically abused.

“my child had been hit, he had been placed in time out and he had been made to drink soda from a teacher’s can of pop, we were never made aware”.

Stella Staine called the police and immediately removed her child from the school.

We reached out to Fairfax County Police to see if Staine's complaint had launched an investigation but no one returned the call.

Staine says she has also not heard from the police.

The two women charged in prince william county now face a preliminary hearing in Juvenile Court January 8th.
