Arrest made in Gaithersburg homicide

Montgomery County Police, MD have charged a man with First Degree Murder in connection with a homicide that occurred in Gaithersburg on Thursday.

On November 21 at 2:28 p.m., 25 year old Michael Kirby Alvarado, was shot and killed at 438 N. Summit Avenue in Gaithersburg.  Based on their investigation, Major Crimes Division detectives obtained an arrest warrant on Friday for a Silver Spring man and information was developed that the suspect was in the Silver Spring area.  Last night at approximately 8:00 p.m., the suspect was arrested as he attempted to flee from a vehicle that detectives stopped.

Detectives have charged 20 year old Jefferson Daniel Delgado,  of  Quebec Terrace in Silver Spring with First Degree Murder.  Police believe that Delgado and Alvarado knew each other although the exact nature of their relationship is still under investigation.  The investigation into other suspects is still ongoing and no further information will be released at this time.
