Tattoo Debate: Are more employers accepting of the ink?

We are an increasingly inked society. The latest surveys show around 14 percent of Americans have tattoos -- and among people in their 20's, the number could be as high as 35 percent.

That sets them on a collision course with the business world. Guess what? Those people in their 20's need jobs and tattoos have traditionally been a no-no in many careers. So, something has got to give.

The trend seems to be that as more young people and their tattoos go to work, the old rules are loosening up. But, CareerBuilder reports almost one-third of employers still say they would think twice about hiring someone with a very visible tattoo.

Jay Houston, president of the Finance and Accounting Division at Addison Group -- a top professional staffing firm in Chicago – examines the tattoo taboo.
