Mechanical problems cause Metra delays

Posted: Updated:
CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

Some Metra Union Pacific/Northwest Line trains are running more than an hour late Thursday morning.

Mechanical problems earlier in the morning caused "train congestion" on the Union Pacific/Northwest Line, which runs between Chicago and northwest suburban Harvard, according to Metra's website.

At least nine inbound trains are delayed between 10-73 minutes, according to Metra. Outbound train no. 609 is delayed 20-25 minutes.

It is not yet known how long the delays will persist.
