CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

The Illinois Department of Children and Family Services is investigating the mother of a two-month-old boy who died early Saturday at his Lyons home.

Michael Padilla, of the 4500 block of South Pulaski Avenue in Lyons, was pronounced dead at his home at 3 a.m., the Cook County Medical Examiner's office. An autopsy conducted Saturday was inconclusive pending further studies, the medical examiner's office said.

DCFS is investigating allegations of neglect against Michael's mother, department spokeswoman Karen Hawkins said. The investigation is pending and the department has not had any prior reports involving the family, Hawkins said.

Michael's siblings were placed with relatives, Hawkins said Sunday.
