Garden State Plaza Mall security video shows gunman

Security camera video from November 4, 2013 at the Garden State Plaza Mall in Paramus has been released. You can see people running from Richard Shoop, 20, who was walking around the mall dressed in black and armed with a Sig Sauer rifle made to look like an AK-47 assault rifle. He had stolen the weapon from his brother earlier in the day.

Shoop, who had a history of drug abuse, is calmly walking around, strolling really even after he fired shots into the air.

We showed the video to Manuel Gomez, a former FBI agent and former New York City police officer. He said Shoop was not walking around in a tactical position like he wanted to take out targets or defend himself.

It takes a while before police show up, which may explain why Shoop killed himself. He may have been hoping that the cops would kill him, but he may have decided not to wait.

The Justice Department is contacting a number of malls asking them to increase security for the upcoming holidays.

    A jury has found a New Jersey detective not guilty in the slaying of a driver during an alleged road-rage incident. Joseph Walker, 41, an investigator for the Hudson County, New Jersey, prosecutor's office, was found not guilty on all counts on Wednesday in Anne Arundel County Circuit Court. He had been charged with first-degree murder in the death of Joseph Harvey, 36, of Landsdowne.
