Marietta police using new technology to track stolen property

Posted: Updated:
MARIETTA, Ga. -

A new technology being used by the Marietta Police Department is offering residents a way to secretly mark and identify valuable property.

Police unveiled the new partnership with CopDots on Friday. CopDots allows users to imprint a microscopic serial code on everything from jewelry to clothing to electronics.

They say those numbers will then be entered into a nationwide database to allow authorities to track back stolen items to the proper owners.

Police demonstrated the technology during a press conference on Friday morning.

They say several jurisdictions already are part of the CopDot program.

For more information on CopDots visit their website at copdots.com.
