2 Arizona corrections officers killed in motorcycle crash

TOLLESON, Ariz. -

Authorities say two Arizona Department of Corrections officers are dead after a motorcycle accident in the area of 99th Avenue and Buckeye Road.

Maricopa County Sheriff's officials identified the victims as 35-year-old John Ollis and 30-year-old Skye Orozca.  They say both worked at the Lewis state prison complex in Buckeye.

Sheriff's officials say Ollis was driving a motorcycle with Orozca as a passenger Wednesday night.

The motorcycle crashed into a tractor-trailer that was making a turn onto Buckeye Road from a private drive.

MCSO's Lt. Brandon Jones stated, "Preliminary info is that a Semi truck was turning left into a distribution site when a motorcycle (occupied 2) clipped a part of the trailer, causing the motorcycle to loose control, eject the riders, and land in a ditch."

Authorities say the two were then struck by three passing vehicles and their bodies were dragged for several hundred feet.

Officials say Ollis was wearing a helmet, but Orozca wasn't.

Sheriff's officials say it's too early to determine if any charges will be filed or citations issued in the fatal accident.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
