District Heights Fire Captain Hospitalized After Battling House Fire

FORESTVILLE, Md. - A Prince George's County Fire Captain is hospitalized  after getting overcome fighting a house fire in Forestville.
Battalion Chief Eric Reith says the Captain, whose name they aren't releasing just yet,  was in the house with up to 15 other firefighters when conditions deteriorated.
Two firefighters were burned on their arms, neck,  and face. They were treated and released.
The Captain's airway is burned--one of the most serious injuries a fire victim can experience.

 "Any time we have one of our members hospitalized with a respiratory injury, it's a severe incident and we take it very seriously," Reith says. "We will deploy an entire investigative safety team to go over the entire incident."    

It's still early, but investigators believe the fire at this house was an accident.
An 88 year old woman who lived there was hospitalized as a precaution..
Waiting for news that his captain will pull through, is the hardest thing.. reith says he's had to endure in 14 years on the job.

 " Right now we're hopefully he will make a full recovery," Reith says.
