MARIETTA, Ga. (AP) - Police in an Atlanta suburb identified the bicyclist who was struck and killed by cars as 49-year-old Danny Nation of Marietta.

Police said an initial investigation showed that Nation tried to cross the northbound lanes of Powder Springs Road and was struck by two cars Monday evening.

Police say the area where Nation was crossing was dark and that he wasn't wearing any protective clothing. They say the bike had a headlight, but no signs of a rear reflector or light.

Authorities say the bicyclist flew over the top of the windshield and then was hit by another passing motorist.

Police say the drivers of both cars stopped, called 911 and tried to give aid to the cyclist, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
