CASA GRANDE, Ariz. -

Pinal County Sheriff's deputies were stopped on the side of the road near Peart Road and Cottonwood Lane dealing with an alleged DUI case.

A deputy and his canine were sitting in his vehicle, about to get out, when 22-year-old Amanda Leyvas rammed into its front passenger's side.

Deputies say she narrowly missed hitting two other marked PCSO vehicles and two deputies standing next to them.

After hitting the vehicle, Leyvas drove off the side of the road and stopped.

Leyvas and her passenger, 23-year-old Terry Sigarroba, weren't injured.

Deputies say both Leyvas and Sigarroba were impaired by alcohol.

Leyvas was arrested for driving while impaired by alcohol, aggravated assault and criminal damage.

Sigarroba was arrested for an outstanding warrant out of the Casa Grande City Court for interfering with a judicial proceeding.

The deputy was taken to a hospital for minor injuries and his dog was taken to a veterinary clinic in San Tan Valley as a precaution.
