WASHINGTON -

A man has been arrested in the brutal beating of a George Washington University professor near Dupont Circle last Sunday.

39-year-old Jason Chambers was found unconscious on the sidewalk in the 2000 block of S Street in Northwest D.C. at around 4:15 a.m.

D.C. police say they arrested 38-year-old James Brown, of Southeast D.C., and have charged him with aggravated assault.

Chambers was with friends earlier in the day, but was walking alone in a silver Halloween costume when he was attacked.

Chambers, a part-time fencing professor at George Washington, sustained multiple injuries, including severe head trauma. He still remains hospitalized.
