Garbage strike ending; workers get new labor agreement

Posted: Updated:

The garbage strike in Bethesda and Chevy-Chase is coming to an end.

The Washington Post reports that trash collectors will be back on the job Wednesday morning.

About fifty truck drivers and helpers with Potomac Disposal of Gaithersburg voted Tuesday night to accept a three-year labor agreement.

It raises pay as much as $20 a day, includes three sick days, and three vacation days for helpers.

All workers will get their first paid-holiday on Christmas Day.
