Police Release New Evidence In Deadly Shooting

Posted: Updated:
CAMDEN, N.J. -

A deadly shooting in Camden has baffled police for a year, but now there's new evidence police want you to see.

FOX 29's Jennifer Joyce spoke with the grieving mother of one of the victims.

Angela Gibson is desperate for answers in the unsolved murder case of her son, Khalil Gibson of Camden.

Just over a year ago, 19-year-old Gibson was one of five people all under the age of 21 shot by a masked man while sitting inside of a car parked on Hull Rd.

Police say after shooting all five people in the car, the suspect, wearing latex gloves and carrying a metal object, drove their vehicle to Morgan Avenue where he was captured on surveillance making a run for it.

Gibson and 19-year-old Jewel Manire, the mother of a 5-year-old boy, died at the scene.

The three other Camden teens survived, but at least one 16-year-old girl is battling lifelong injuries.

Angela says her son was attending Camden County College and was focused on his future.

"This took a big chunk out of my heart," Angela Gibson said. "Khalil was a good kid. There's just no other way around it."

Police say they need your help tracking down this brazen suspect who stole the lives of two innocent young souls.

Gibson's mom continues to ask why someone killed her son. She also has message to the person who did this.

"Turn yourself in please because we still hurt. It still hurts that he's not here with us," Angela said.

Anyone with information is asked to call 215-546-tips or the Camden County Prosecutor's Office Investigator John Hunsinger at 856-225-8500
