Medical Marijuana Facility Opens In South Jersey

EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP, N.J. -

New Jersey now has its second medical marijuana facility and first in South Jersey.

Stephanie Esposito reports on the opening of the Compassionate Care Foundation in Egg Harbor Township.

Robert Seeley didn't want to talk specifically about his chronic pain, but was proud to talk about his service in the United States Military.

He was the first patient to receive medical marijuana at the new Compassion Care Center in Egg Harbor Township.

Medical Marijuana isn't officially used to treat post-traumatic stress disorder in New Jersey, but Robert says it's been a pleasant benefit for him.

"I feel clean .I feel clear. I feel healthy. It's helped me with my PTSD," Seeley said.

It all starts in this temperature controlled room under fluorescent lights. They stay on 24 hours a day.

FOX 29 cameras were the first to tour the facility this weekend.

Robert showed us his government issued card that gives him access to the facility.

Robert says the process is relatively easy. He had to write some paperwork to prove he has a debilitating disease and then wait for a doctor's approval. He can buy up to 2 ounces of medical marijuana every 30 days.

He said he couldn't be happier with the process and the location but he just wishes his insurance would cover his prescription.

The Compassionate Care Foundation has plans fill its space with a second grow room because they're anticipating that the medical marijuana will be in high demand.
