Imagine this, it's just about six-o'clock on a Friday night and for a lot of people, that means the work week is done. However according to a recent study, they likely went into weekend mode hours before.
One-hit-wonder, Rebecca Black, may have said it best. Everybody's looking forward to the weekend. Now a new British Airways survey supports her theory. It says most workers mentally start their weekends on Friday at 2:39 in the afternoon.
The research shows that the Friday wind-down often consists of using Facebook, online banking, and making weekend plans. Experts say that ‘Friday feeling’ is probably due to most people working overtime during the week, something one worker we talked to agrees with, “You need leisure as well as work" he said. "I think by the end of a long working week you really need those 2 days of relaxation.”
Another man said he finds myself more tired in the morning and towards the afternoon is when he gets more excited for the weekend and looks forward to just getting out of work.
Still, some claim that on Friday afternoons, putting their best foot forward at work is the only thing on their minds.
“I'm in the catering business and I'm always thinking about potential new clients,” one business owner said. “What I'm doing for my current clients, and how I can network and gain new clients."
