Students, Parents Protest Philly Teacher Reassignments

PHILADELPHIA -

Parents and students from Sharswood Elementary School in South Philadelphia are pretty upset.

They're marching up Broad Street – along the Mummers' Parade route – to protest losing their teachers in the middle of the semester.

It's called leveling, during which the district moves teachers from school to school to make up for shortages across the city.

The classes left behind are combined, and become bigger.

FOX 29's Steve Keeley was there for Friday morning's protest and filed this video report.
