Tucson teen arrested for hoax 911 call

Posted: Updated:

TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) - Police say a Tucson high school student has been arrested for a hoax 911 call about a possible gunman on campus.

KVOA-TV reports (http://bit.ly/1amQegU) that Tucson police arrested the 14-year-old Thursday on one count of false reporting of an emergency and one count of disorderly conduct.

Both are misdemeanor offenses.

Investigators say a caller told police around 9 a.m. Thursday that someone with three guns was at Santa Rita High School.

Police traced the call back to a cellphone belonging to a friend of the teenage suspect.

The incident comes a day after the school was on lockdown because of a reported sighting of guns in the area.
