Sexual assaults reported near Northern Virginia Community College campuses

Posted: Updated:

Police are issuing an alert for students at Northern Virginia Community College after three recent sex assaults.

Officers are stepping up security at both the Annandale and Loudoun campuses. All three victims were targeted during high traffic times on the campuses and two of the cases may be connected.

One young woman says she was walking along a concrete path behind the Reynolds building at the school's Loudoun campus around 7 p.m. Monday night when a man approached and touched her inappropriately. She was able to get away without any serious injuries.

Less than an hour later, another alleged assault occurred just across the street. That victim told Loudoun County police she was targeted as she stood at a bus stop just off campus along Potomac View Road. She tells investigators a man kissed her on the face and trapped her in an unwelcomed hug before taking off. This all comes four days after a reported assault at the Annandale campus.

The Loudoun County Sheriff's Office says the suspect in the bus stop incident is described as a white, possibly Hispanic male in his 20s.

In the earlier alleged assault case on Monday night, the suspect was described as a white, possibly Middle Eastern male.

Both victims described the suspect as approximately 5'6" to 5'7" tall with an athletic build and short black hair, speaking with a thick accent of unknown descent. The suspect was wearing a dark-colored t-shirt and striped shorts.

The suspect in the Annandale campus incident was described as a black male in his early 20s. Police say he is 6’ tall and weighs 180 pounds.

Anyone with any information regarding the possible identity of the suspect is asked to call Detective S. Tresselt of the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division at 703-777-0475.
