Family of Kendrick Johnson asks for coroner's inquest in death

Posted: Updated:
VALDOSTA, Ga. -

The family of a Lowndes High School student Kendrick Johnson has officially requested a judge order a coroner's inquest into his death.

The body of the 17-year-old boy was found inside a wrestling map at Lowndes High in January. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation ruled it an accident based on autopsy results. But Johnson's family had a second autopsy done by a forensic doctor in Florida, who concluded Johnson's death was due to blunt force trauma.

This weekend, the Valdosta-Lowndes County Chapter of the Southern Christian Leadership Council announced they will be offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction in the death of teen.
