Father on the run after allegedly stabbing wife, son

PHOENIX -

Crime scene tape surrounds a home after a man reportedly stabbed his own wife and 16-year-old son.

The mother and son were transported to a hospital where they later talked to investigators -- describing what happened.

Police continue to patrol the south Phoenix neighborhood near 19th Avenue and Southern, searching for the suspect.

"I seen some lights flashing early this morning."

David Regan has lived in the neighborhood for 44 years.  He saw the police officers outside of his neighbor's house during his morning walk.

"I don't want to see anybody get killed, you know what I'm saying," he said.

Thankfully, the victims are going to be okay.  Police say the family was sleeping at 4:30 a.m. Monday when the suspect woke his wife and started fighting with her.  Their son heard the fighting and got up to help.  That's when investigators say the father hurt his son and his wife, then took off from the scene.

"It's good they're okay.  I hope they catch the guy," said a concerned neighbor who did not want to be identified.

Two other children inside the home weren't hurt.  Investigators say after talking to the family, they believe the suspect may have been on drugs before the stabbing happened.

Police are not releasing the suspect's name or providing a description of his car.  They say doing so could hurt their case.
