Two Walmart stores in DC nearing completion

Posted: Updated:
WASHINGTON, DC -

It's been weeks since D.C. Mayor Vince Gray vetoed the minimum wage bill that would have prompted Walmart to pull the plug on its D.C. stores.

The mayor said the demand for jobs was too high and he wouldn't risk losing the thousands of jobs Walmart stores would provide.

There are two stores that are nearing completion. One store is on Georgia Avenue NW and another downtown near the U.S Capitol.

And, when Walmart put the help wanted sign out it got a big response. There are three stores under construction right now. Three more will be built in some of the most needed areas of the District. We are told land is being cleared and permits are being granted as we speak.
